Why do Hindus worship idols? Answer to that Pakistani stone worship? Why do Hindus worship idols? - But Pooja / Murti Pooja, Worship of rivers, wors
Today I was watching a video of a Pakistani, boy who was asking in it why Hindus are like this, similarly, they worship idols, and also he made a face as if he hates Hindus a lot.
I thought maybe they would not know why Hindus worship idols. But I will definitely tell him what I think. ,
Why do Hindus worship idols? Answer to that Pakistani
stone worship
Hindus do not worship all the stones because if they were so, they would never walk on the stones. One does not allow such a feeling that a person is alone in life, it gives fearlessness so after the change to Vigrah we express our gratitude towards him.
cow worship
If everyone had worshiped the cow, then the bull would not have been used in the cart. we express our gratitude towards the cow for her milk.
Worship of rivers, worship of ponds and wells -
Once upon a time, these were the best source of sweet water, even today, in many cities and villages, along with drinking, river water is like nectar for farming. That's why they love like their mother. That's why we express our gratitude towards him.
tree worship
Few trees protect the life and land of mankind like a father. That's why we express our gratitude towards him.
Other pujas also have different-2 reasons etc.
Meaning of Worship
To worship means to express gratitude or respect for someone. I remember very well when I was young, if we used to go out of the house and tilak and aarti were done, and when a guest came, then also his aarti and tilak were done. Because we express our gratitude towards him.
So are the worship of Brahma and the worship done above both the same?
No, understand from these examples -
Worship of Brahma
The study of Vedas and Puranas is the worship of Brahma. Those who study from Puranas to Vedas by holding the hand of Guru (Upanishads), then they get a hint of Brahma from Vedas.
Swami Vivekananda has described it from top to bottom like this -
- Study
- contemplation
- meditation
- salvation
Idol worship -
If all were idol worshippers, they would not have thrown the same idol in the river. Not every idol is worshiped in our place, only idols are worshiped after resolution. For example, the photo of your ancestors in your house would not appear to be just a piece of paper. To understand more, you must read the story between Swami Vivekananda and the King of Alwar. is easily available on the internet.
Other Poojas
Other small and big worships that range from nature and family deities, village deities to main deities are worshiped as means of expressing respect and gratitude towards them. Which starts from Tilak till Yagya Havan.
An example of our Lord -
When the Pandavas performed the Rajasuya Yagya in Indraprastha, everyone told their work or duty to Maharaj Yudhishthira, but everyone was shocked when they came to know that Lord Shri Krishna has taken up the task of welcoming and serving the guests.
Now you think for yourself, whose God gives so much priority to service, who himself says that he is the servant of his devotees. But the same Lord Shri Krishna is telling every human (Arjuna) that you may have to attack your own people for the protection of religion.
Note - Here the religion word does not mean Hindu but -
religion means truth
And
Adharma means an untruth.
Every man's own religion can be different according to his duties, this has been told by Lord Shri Krishna in Shrimad Bhagavad Gita and Swami Vivekananda in his book Karmayoga.
So now I hope you must have understood why Hindus worship idols because we express our gratitude towards this nature and creation of the Lord.
